Britain's haulage industry ignoring new technology - Only 10% of truck operators use fleet management systems

Peter Shakespear of Roadway reports research conducted by telematics equipment manufacture Aeromark suggested that despite increasing business pressures, only around 10% of truck operators are using latest fleet management system to help them increase efficiency.

Roger Marks, Managing Director of  Aeromark comments "Despite spiralling fuel costs and tight restrictions on drivers hours, only around 10% if truck operators are using latest vehicle management systems to help them work smarter and increase efficiency"

Marks also comments that "the traditional ways of controlling fleets of vehicles, used by many operators, requires considerable experience and skills and reply heavily on the ability of the controller to estimate the progress and position of every truck they have on the road.  With growing congestion and unpredictable delays, this is becoming an increasingly difficult management task.  The result? missed pick ups, uneconomical routeing of vehicles and inevitably smaller profits... you can not manage what you can not measure"
